As the pilgrims take their last steps to the end of their journey they all make sure to stop at the Cathedral, Santiago De Compostela. When they arrive they attend the mass which is mostly in Spanish but also in different languages. They are all blessed with an incense that swings from a large incensory at the end of the mass. This was a grand sight too see, it took five men to swing the incensory in the cathedral. I did not take a video, however if you are interested you can follow the link to view the event. It was a lovely service that lasted about forty-five minutes.
The blessing with the incense for the pilgrims was and is used as a blessing but also as a way to make people smell better. I found the second part as a fun fact that was probably more so used a long time ago.
